SKorea Says NKorea Is Likely To Fire Missile

SEOUL, South Korea — South Korean senior intelligence officials say North Korea appears to be setting up a long-range missile, not a satellite launch.

The assessment for South Korean lawmakers came a day after North Korea announced it was preparing to send a satellite into orbit.

National Intelligence Service officials say the object’s shape “is similar to” the country’s long-range missile. The readout comes from the office of a lawmaker who attended the closed-door session.

A senior U.S. intelligence official has told The Associated Press that North Korea is about a month away from launch.

Jane’s Defense Weekly says activity at the site suggests North Korea could be preparing for a missile launch within days.
