Silver Mountain Resort offering $12 lift tickets for Jackass Day

KELLOGG, Idaho — In honor of its 50th ski season, Silver Mountain Resort will be offering retro priced $12 lift tickets all day long on Friday, Jan. 5.
Silver Mountain Resort opened in 1968 under the name “Jackass Ski Bowl,” thanks to work of the “Fabulous Valley Development Corporation,” a group made up of 12 Valley residents and sole proprietors. In the 50 years since, the resort has changed both ownership and names, but has consistently remained one of North Idaho’s premier ski areas.
Lift tickets will be good of night skiing until 9 p.m. and there will be an extra late tubing session from 5-7 p.m.
“Jackass, Silverhorn, Silver Mountain and the whole Silver Valley have had their share of challenges over the years, and it is due to a lot of dedicated people that we are here to celebrate our 50th birthday,” said General Manager Jeff Colburn. “It should be a great party on the hill to commemorate the achievement.”
A retro outfit contest in Moguls will take place at 8 p.m. with the winner of the contest taking home a $50 cash prize. Fireworks will begin an hour later at 9 and are best viewed from the Mountain House. Live music will be taking place from 8 – 11 p.m. with local bands Royale playing in Moguls and Son of Brad performing in Noah’s Canteen.
Additionally, Silver Mountain has partnered with Summit Northwest Ministries, who have organized a canned food drive. Donations will benefit the Shoshone County Food Bank. Collection bins can be found in the lower gondola terminal.
