Shock Gearing Up For Start Of Playoffs

SPOKANE — The Spokane Shock, fresh off a 15 – 1 regular season, know all too well that goes out the window now that the postseason is here. Even though the best team in the Arena Football League 2 has earned home field throughout, one loss and they’re out of the playoffs all together.

The last time the Shock had home field was two years ago when they ended up winning the whole thing. Last year, as a three seed, they got to host a first round playoff game and were beaten pretty handily by Louisville. That loss still sits with guys who were on that team, who have had a year to let it marinate. But they also had a chance to learn from it and to help the new guys avoid experiencing the same thing.

“Well, you know, we have a different team this year, of course. We’ve got a lot of hungry guys, a lot of young guys on the team, and you know, some veteran guys leading the way, and definitely we’re rolling right now, and we’re feeling good. A lot of guys are healthy, and we sat a couple of guys, and we’re coming into the playoffs rolling, so we’re feeling good,” Shock Receiver Raul Vijil said.

The Shock host the Austin Wranglers at the Spokane Arena Saturday night. Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m.
