Shining Star Senior Night: North Central’s Addie Wood
SPOKANE, Wash. — We’re starting to see many professional sports either resume their seasons, or get closer to legitimate plans to do so after the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
That’s unfortunately out of the question for high school seniors who saw their final spring sports seasons canceled entirely. Tonight, we’re honoring a senior from North Central who is involved in school activities, but her life and passion outside of the school hallways were severely altered by COVID-19.
Addie Wood: This competitive dancer has been honing her craft for 14 years. She competes for the Dance Arts Academy in Spokane year-round. There is no offseason, as she practices and competes from July through June. She competes in ballet, tap, contemporary and jazz. She had 11 events scheduled this spring, but only got to compete in one before everything was canceled. Addie placed first in choreography among hundreds of competitors. Addie is a mentor at her dance academy and at North Central, as she’s a leadership student and is committed to community service as well.
