Seven Dead After Gunman Infiltrates Jewish Seminary

JERUSALEM (AP) — Emergency officials in Jerusalem say at least seven people have been killed in an attack on a rabbinical seminary in the city on Thursday.

Israeli police say a gunman infiltrated the seminary and “opened fire in all directions.” Israeli media reports say dozens were wounded.

Police and local media say the infiltrators was among those killed in the nighttime attack.

Original reports from the scene said there may have been two gunmen. Police say “an Israeli army officer nearby” shot the gunman dead. Israeli media says about 35 people were wounded.

Meanwhile, a Hezbollah satellite television station has announced that a previously unknown group (the Martyrs of Imad Mughniyeh and Gaza) is responsible for the shooting attack.

Though the claim was carried by Hezbollah’s television station and the group bore the name of one of its recently slain commanders, it is not clear what kind of links the organization might have with Hezbollah.
