Seattle woman uses social media against groper

A 28-year-old woman who was groped in downtown Seattle got mad and used social media to pressure the police into taking her complaint seriously.

Julia Marquand told The Seattle Times she initially yelled at the man Sunday as she entered a store then took his picture when she saw him again later.

When she went to a police station to make a report the officer didn’t seem interested in the photo. So, Marquand posted the man’s picture on her Facebook and Twitter accounts, adding that police didn’t seem to care.

That got the attention of the department. Within a few hours a spokesman said a detective had been assigned and police will follow up on all cases of harassment and sexual assault.
