Seattle restaurant closed after possible norovirus outbreak

County health officials are investigating a possible norovirus gastroenteritis outbreak at a Seattle restaurant.

KING-TV reports King County Health Department officials learned of 15 people who became ill after eating food from Mama Stortini’s Restaurant & Bar in Northgate Mall around Dec. 5.

Investigators visited and closed the restaurant December 12. During and inspection, investigators identified 14 employees who experienced nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, symptoms associated with norovirus.

King County Health Department officials said that no laboratory confirmation has been made, but symptoms suggest norovirus.

Officials said they have not determined the cause of the illness.

Health experts say the best way to prevent contracting norovirus is to wash your hands thoroughly.
