Seattle Group The Ventures Going Into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

SEATTLE (AP) — The Ventures are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

For Don Wilson of Sammamish and Bob Bogle of Vancouver, who founded the group nearly a half-century ago, the question about the Monday night ceremony in New York City is: What took so long?

The two former construction workers bought their first guitars at a Tacoma pawn shop, formed a group and started playing at Seattle-area spots, gaining international fame.

The rock instrumental group may be best known for “Walk Don’t Run.” Both men are in their mid-70s and still playing.

Others from Washington in the Rock Hall are Jimi Hendrix and former DJ Pat O’Day.
