Search Called Off For Lost Washington Boy On Vancouver Island
TOFINO, British Columbia (AP) — The official search for a seven-year-old Bellingham boy missing on Vancouver Island ended Monday.
Even so, officials at local airlines, boating companies and others say they will be on the watch for any sign of young William Pilkenton.
He vanished Friday morning in the tourist town of Tofino on the west coast of the island. Royal Canadian Mounted Police say Pilkenton was last seen walking with his father along the beach in an area that was rocky and slick from rain.
Search coordinator Garth Cameron says authorities have concluded that the boy probably was lost in the waters along the beach.
He says pilots and operators of whale-watching boats have been asked to keep an eye out for any sign of a body
