Scrumdiddilyumptious Donuts celebrates National Donut Day with free donuts for veterans & military

Since 1938, the first Friday in June is reserved for National Donut Day. During World War I, women with the Salvation Army handed out donuts to soldiers in France. Two decades later, the organization decided to celebrate them and their work, with a day named in their honor.

Nearly 100 years on, the tradition continued at Scrumdiddilyumptious Donuts in Spokane Valley. On National Donut Day, they offered veterans and active military members a free donut.

Three-thousand donuts were made for the celebration and the Salvation Army was on hand to share with customers the history of the day.
