Salvation Army, Fred Meyer run campaign to collect school supplies for kids

The Salvation Army and local Fred Meyers are working to help students who can’t afford basic school supplies for the upcoming school year.

Beginning on August 6, the “Burst a Bus” campaign will help collect school supplies which will then be donated to a goal of 5,000 students.

Between August 6 and August 10, community members are encouraged to drop off school supplies at the following Fred Meyer locations:

15609 E Sprague Avenue
12120 N Division St
400 S Ralph St

Supplies collected will be distributed mid August.

“The need in this community is heartbreaking,” said Major Ken Perine of the Salvation Army Spokane. “We know that this is a giving community and we truly believe that if we all work together, we can give these kids a chance to reach their highest potential. Research shows that having adequate school supplies can make a difference in a child’s learning environment. We see this as an investment into our community’s future.”
