Robbery suspects detained after pit stop at Tim Hortons
Two Canadians who were on the run after an alleged bank robbery were arrested after they pulled into a Tim Hortons drive-thru.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said a man had entered a New Brunswick bank Monday and demanded money from the teller before escaping. He then made his getaway in a car driven by a woman accomplice.
Bank employees provided the police with a description of the car, and officers in the area were quick to respond, following the fugitives into the Tim Hortons drive-thru. The suspects were arrested at gun point in the parking lot and were taken into custody.
The CBC reports the man, Jody Sanipass, 24, was charged with robbery and wearing a mask while committing an offense. The woman, whose name wasn’t disclosed, was released from custody on a promise to appear in court to face charges.
Police say thousands of dollars were recovered from the incident.
