Rhode Island bride gets stuck in elevator, misses part of reception
A new bride found herself stuck in an elevator as she made her way to her wedding reception.
Melissa Rodger of Rhode Island told WLNE after she entered the elevator with two wedding planners, it stopped abruptly four feet before landing.
“I was hoping that it would just take a minute,” Rodger said. “Five minutes went by and I thought: ‘OK, something might be wrong.”
As Rodger was missing cocktail hour, her new husband was informed by a bridesmaid that his wife was stuck in the elevator.
“One of her bridesmaids came up to me and whispered in my ear: ‘We have a situation that’s going on. Don’t be alarmed, but Melissa is stuck in the elevator,” Justin Rodger said.
Forty-five minutes after the elevator became stuck, a technician got it running again.
