Restaurant Week begins Thursday, Casper Fry owner excited to plate up delicious southern food

With Restaurant Week kicking off Thursday, restaurants around the region are gearing up to serve their three course meals for either $21 or $31.

“Its a fun time, there’s a lot of buzz, its a lot of work, but its a great opportunity for the guests and the restaurants as well,” said Deb Green, owner of the Casper Fry.

The Southern inspired Perry District restaurant has been prepping for weeks to get their menu together and to order in all their specialty items, some of which came cross country just for you.

“One of the highlights I think of our entree course is a peach and ricotta stuffed pork loin with Red Mule grits shipped up from Georgia,” she said.

The dessert options will also get your salivary glands working over time.

“You will have the chance to order a s’more with house made graham crackers, chocolate ganache, house made marshmallows, thrown in the jasper and smoked for a few minutes,” she said.

The concept behind restaurant week, which is all put together by The Inlander, is to get new diners out and about into restaurants they may not normally try, and to spur some business for restaurants in what can sometimes be slow months. The crowds often don’t disappoint.

“We usually see some people come in and then talk about it on social media and then see a big increase in business,” Green said.

With recent weather impacting downtown businesses, and restaurants reporting a very slow couple of weeks, they are hopeful that mouth watering menus and hot food at discount prices will bring out the crowds in what could ultimately be another snowy week.
