Report: Derrick Rose signs with Timberwolves
Derrick Rose has signed a deal to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves for the rest of the season, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The move will reunite the former NBA MVP with coach Tom Thibodeau and former Bulls teammates Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson.
Rose, 29, was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Utah Jazz as part of a three-team trade deadline deal last month. He became a free agent after the Jazz waived him.
Before knee injuries slowed him down, Rose was the 2011 NBA MVP with his hometown Bulls and was a three-time All-Star guard. He has played in only 16 games this season, averaging 9.8 points, 1.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds.
The Timberwolves sit in sixth place in the Western Conference at 38-28 and have lost their last two games.
The team is playing without Butler, who underwent surgery for a torn meniscus last month and is “sidelined indefinitely,” according to the team.
