Rep. McMorris Rodgers, Brown raise $9 million in 5th district race

SPOKANE, Wash. — In the contentious race for eastern Washington’s congressional seat, Republican Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Democratic challenger Lisa Brown have raised more than $9 million combined.
The latest campaign finance reports for the period ending Sept. 30 show McMorris Rodgers has raised $5.1 million and Brown has raised $4.6 million.
According to the Associated Press, Brown’s money is the most ever raised by a challenger to the seven-term incumbent. McMorris Rodgers has held her seat in the House ever since 2005.
According to the Federal Election Commission, this is also the most money the Congresswoman’s campaign has ever raised, up from $3.2 million in 2016.
The candidates have spent a large amount of the money on a flood of negative ads leading up to the Nov. 6 election.
