‘Rally Goose’ OK after crashing Tigers game

A Canada goose that landed on the field at a Detroit Tigers game on Wednesday was determined to leave the field on his own terms but needed a little help getting out of Comerica Park.

As the Tigers and Los Angeles Angels waited out a rain delay in the top of the sixth inning, the goose flew into right-center field and proceeded to make himself at home.

Grounds crew members tried to chase the bird away with little effect as he flew back and forth from the outfield to the infield and back again.

When the goose did eventually take flight and leave the field, he crashed into a LED board on the edge of the stadium’s third deck and fell into the stands below.

A Tigers fan, who was later identified by Fox Sports Detroit as veterinarian Catherine Roach, eventually wrapped up the goose and escorted him to the concourse.

The Tigers later tweeted that the goose was healthy and had been released outside the ballpark, adding the hashtag #RallyGoose.

The goose may have indeed helped the Tigers, as, once the rain delay ended, they rallied for five runs to beat the Angels by a score of 6-1.

Roach told Fox Sports Detroit that when she left the game she found the goose hadn’t moved from where he was released outside the stadium. She took him to her clinic for an exam and some X-rays and then brought him Thursday morning to the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he will stay for a day or two for observation before being released.
