Rain showers turn to snow late tonight – Matt

What we’re tracking

Rain is moving into the Inland Northwest this evening and will turn to snow late tonight. Some slippery road conditions are likely around the region in the morning even though the bulk of the storm will be long gone by then.

Snow amounts are only expected to be a light dusting up to 1 inch at most around the Spokane to Coeur d’Alene metro with some areas over one inch around the North Idaho Panhandle.

Plan your Thursday

If you do get a little snow accumulation tonight, it will get slushy pretty quickly as we warm into the mid-30s. Overall, Thursday looks pretty nice. Areas of fog will be possible in the morning and evening after that rain and snow the night before.

Spokane and Coeur d’Alene forecast

Temperatures in the coming days will be right around normal for January — highs in the low 30s and lows in the 20s. The next chance for snow is on Saturday afternoon and evening. This is not going to be a big storm either. Right now, you should only expect another dusting of an inch or so with a small layer of fresh snow up at the ski areas on Sunday.
