QQ Sushi reopens after viral video controversy

SPOKANE, Wash. — QQ Sushi reopened Tuesday after being closed for more than a week. The restaurant closed on February 10, following a Facebook post that included videos depicting improper food preparation practices.

Last week, the Spokane Regional Health District conducted an investigation and reviewed food safety and handling techniques.

In a press release sent out Monday, owner Bao Zhang said he made renovations to the kitchen and brought in an entire new kitchen staff. Additionally, Zhang said he also hired two managers to oversee day-to-day operations.

According to QQ Sushi’s website, their regular business hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. 4 News Now spoke to Zhang Tuesday morning, who said they had a plumbing crew in the kitchen to install a new dishwasher.

They said they have reopened and are ready to serve their customers.

There are about 2,300 places to eat in Spokane County. If you dine at any of them and have concerns about the food they serve or how it’s prepared, Spokane Regional Health District wants you to call their food safety program at 509-324-1560, extension 2.
