Protesters hit Spokane streets, upset with Gov. Inslee’s denial of a faster opening

SPOKANE, Wash. — Protesters packed Riverfront Park on Friday for a Re-Open Spokane rally, waving signs that read ‘Freedom is the Cure’ and ‘Obey the Constitution.’

The protest comes a day after Governor Inslee denied a request from local leaders to open Spokane County at a faster rate.

Other counties in the state have asked for variances which would allow them to move more quickly to Phase 2 of the Safe Start Plan.

Those counties are much smaller than Spokane County, which has a population of more than half a million people.

The crowd of protesters on Friday marked the largest one in Spokane yet, despite multiple rallies taking place in recent months to argue stay home orders.
