Police Chase Ends With Vehicle Crashing Through Wall
SPOKANE — A police chase through the streets of downtown Spokane left a gaping hole in a coffee shop Thursday morning.
Spokane Police officers were pursuing a fleeing vehicle early in the morning when they utilized a PIT manaveur – a tactical ramming of an escaping vehicle that forces the driver sideways. The tactic was successful in bringing the driver to a stop, however the offending driver lost control in the process and crashed through the wall of the Alberta Building, located at the corner of Second and Madison.
The driver, identified as Brett C. Sears, was arrested after his vehicle came to a stop. According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Mark Baker, “SPD officers booked Brett Sears into the Spokane County Jail on several felony charges ranging from eluding, possession of a stolen gun, unlawful imprisonment, felon in possession of a firearm and warrants.”
No injuries were reported in the dangerous end to the wild chase, however a large hole in the side of Our House Coffee remains.
