Police Arrest Hit And Run Driver

SPOKANE VALLEY — Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for a hit and run that sent another man to the hospital with life-threatening head injuries.

Police report the hit and run happened at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 10100 block of E. Mission.

A man walking eastbound on Mission with the victim says they were on the opposite side of the fog line from the traffic lane when the Blazer crossed the line and struck the victim, only identified at this time as a 22-year-old Spokane Valley man.

The impact of the car ripped the victim from his shoes and tossed him about 20 to 30 feet. He was taken to a downtown hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver, later identified as 27-year-old Gregory Sutton, sped away from the scene. The car was located by Spokane Valley Police officers Monday at an apartment complex in the 11000 block of E. Augusta.

Police arrested Sutton for felony Hit and Run and Injury Collision. The Department of Corrections says Sutton has a suspended driver’s license and had been drinking alcohol before he hit the 22-year-old man.

Sutton’s Blazer was seized as evidence and investigation into the crash continues.
