Pierce County pharmacist suspended over diverting illegal drugs

A Pierce County pharmacist’s credentials were suspended after he was accused of diverting thousands of tablets containing controlled substances.

The Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission, along with the state Department of Health, suspended the credentials of David V. Pruett, pending further legal action.

Pruett allegedly diverted thousands of tablets containing oxycodone and other controlled substances. Charges state that Pruett admitted he gave some of these tablets to another person in exchange for cash, drugs, and prostitutes.

In January 2018, Pruett tested positive for opiates, benzodiazepines, marijuana, and buprenorphine.
