Pierce Co. nursing assistant’s credentials suspended after child mistreatment allegations

State health officials have suspended the credentials of Pierce County a registered nursing assistant and home care aide, pending further legal action, after child mistreatment charges surfaced.

Charges state that Danielle Colburn was very rough with a four-year-old, special health care needs patient in her care. Colburn allegedly picked up the child by one arm and carried her several feet, hit the patient in the face, and dropped her to the floor.

Colburn admitted to being too rough with the patient and acknowledging that the patient could have been seriously injured by her actions.

Colburn cannot practice in Washington until the charges are resolved. She has 20 days to respond to the charges and request a hearing.
