Paulson Says President’s Working Group Calls For Stronger Oversight Of Mortgage Lenders
WASHINGTON D.C. (AP) — Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson says that stronger regulatory oversight of mortgage lenders is being recommended as part of a broad blueprint to prevent any repetition of the credit crisis that currently threatens to plunge the country into a recession.
Paulson, in a speech Thursday, will outline suggestions of the president’s working group on financial markets, which for months has been exploring ways to avert such chilling scenarios.
