Pasco attempted murder suspect arrested in Spokane Co. after 50-mile chase

SPOKANE CO., Wash. — A Pasco attempted murder suspect led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash Wednesday night. Part of the chase was caught on video as the suspect sped away with popped tires after driving over spike strips, sending sparks flying.
Jaime Balderas, 26, is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend during an argument near 15th Avenue and Yakima Street on Jan. 11, according to the Pasco Police Department.
A Washington State Patrol trooper spotted Balderas speeding in a Ford F-150 with two passengers on Interstate 90 about 15 miles west of Spokane.

WSP said Balderas continued for miles before taking the exit from I-90 to Highway 2, then led law enforcement through the towns of Reardan and Davenport at speeds that reached 100 miles per hour.
Troopers said Balderas drove over several spike strips, puncturing his tires.
Video sent to KXLY4 shows the pickup speeding along the highway, shooting sparks from under it.
Balderas’ truck collided with another car in Reardan before troopers stopped him with a PIT maneuver, causing the truck to roll. The chase ended right outside of Creston, nearly 50 miles from where it began.
Balderas and his two passengers, 26-year-old Ivan Valdez and 44-year-old Michael Figueroa, were all taken into custody.
WSP said Balderas is being charged with driving under the influence and felony eluding. He was also arrested on a $500,000 warrant for attempted murder.
He is currently lodged at the Spokane County Jail.
