Parking violation leads to multiple arrests

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men Friday after a parking violation led to the seizure of drugs and a pistol.
A sheriff’s deputy noticed a car parked on the wrong side of Atlantic near Houston Friday around 11 p.m. The driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Ryan L. Olson, had a suspended license.
The passenger in the car gave the deputy false identification information, but later admitted he lied because he had a warrant out for his arrest. He was identified as 29-year-old Anthony D. Barton.
Olson was arrested for driving with a suspended license, while Barton was arrested for the felony warrant. The deputy saw drug paraphernalia and a pistol in the car. Olson denied any knowledge of the weapon.
The deputy obtained a search warrant, and found an unloaded 9 mm pistol under the front seat, methamphetamine, scales, and a glass pipe in the center console of the vehicle. A small amount of heroin belonging to Barton was also found.
A criminal history check showed Olson has multiple felony convictions and is not allowed to possess a firearm.
Olson was booked into the Spokane County Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Driving while Suspended.
Barton was booked into Spokane County Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Making False Statements and the felony warrant.
