Parents Of Seattle Student Say She’s Innocent Of Italian Killing

NEW YORK (AP) — The parent of University of Washington student Amanda Knox appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to talk about the sex-slaying of her roommate in Italy.

The parents say their daughter couldn’t commit a crime and she doesn’t know why she’s in jail.

The 20-year-old Seattle woman, an Italian boyfriend and a third person are accused in the killing last fall of a 21-year-old British student, Meredith Kercher. Officials say she was stabbed in the neck during a sexual assault.

Amanda’s mother, Edda Mellas, says her daughter is tired a lot and that jail is not easy.

Amanda’s father, William Knox, says media coverage of her as a sexually adventurous party girl is unfair and opposite of what they know about her.

A judge has ruled the suspects can be jailed for as long as a year while the investigation continues.
