PRIEST RIVER — Fishing isn’t just a hobby for Linda and Jimmy Luey, it’s more of a way of life.
“We don’t have any kids so this is it for us,” Linda says.
The couple have been together for ten years, a marriage that started when Jimmy pried a fish hook out of his finger and placed a ring on one of Linda’s.
“She’s the best fishing partner there probably ever has been,” Jimmy gushes. “She’s out with me when it’s raining, when it’s snowing, when it’s hot.”
Linda adds that she admires the calm and solitude of a place like Priest Lake, where the two can be alone and fish for hours, never knowing when the next cast is going to net a trophy fish.
Jimmy notes that the two are “year round fishers,” forging an unbreakable bond over the years they’ve spent hunting and fishing together, a sentiment clearly shared by Linda.
“This is our world,” she says.
