One child killed, another critically injured in Oldtown crash

OLDTOWN, ID. — One child was killed and another is in critical condition after they and their grandmother were hit by a car in Oldtown, Idaho.

The crash happened late Friday afternoon on East Valley Street South in Oldtown. A 23-year-old man was driving his Chevrolet Tahoe when they hit three people walking on the side of the road.

The people hit were a 50-year-old woman and her two grandchildren. Her granddaughter was pronounced dead at the scene, and her grandson was in critical condition and taken to a nearby hospital. The grandmother was also taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver fled the scene after rolling his car over on the side of the road in a lawn. He was eventually found and taken to a nearby hospital.

Next of kin has been notified.

The road was closed for five hours for first responders to come and investigate what happened.

Idaho State Police is investigating what happened Friday evening.
