Officers bring attention to domestic violence in a colorful way

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Two Airway Heights officers are bringing attention to domestic violence in a colorful way, and raising some eyebrows in the process.
Erica Rose and Erin Johnson are dyeing their hair purple in an effort to end the silence surrounding domestic violence. The Airway Heights officers say it’s their number one call for service. Yet many cases of domestic violence never get reported. The two say their colorful hair has many doing a double take, asking questions, and engaging in conversation.
October is Domestic Violence Action Month. The officers say purple symbolizes courage, emotional strength, and healing.
