NorthTown Mall Sears to close in October
SPOKANE, Wash. — The NorthTown Mall Sears will close later this year.
“We have made the difficult but necessary decision to close 26 large-format Sears and Kmart stores in late October,” a release from Sears Holding read.
Sears Holdings, which operates both Sears and Kmart stores, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2018. Since then, the company has closed stores around the country.
The release said the North Spokane store will close sometime in late October with liquidation sales beginning August 15.
According to the release, Sears Holdings plans to accelerate expansion of smaller store formats, including opening additional Home & Life stores once the Sears Hometown and Outlet transaction closes.
Several Sears Auto Centers will also close in late August.
In March, Sears Holdings closed its last Spokane Kmart store.
