North-central Idaho sees rash of burglaries
Residents in the north-central Idaho towns of Juliaetta and Kendrick say they’re frustrated over a rash of burglaries in recent months.
The Lewiston Tribune reports that burglars have hit several businesses and residences over the fall and winter months. The Latah County Sheriff’s Department says the post office, library and public schools have been targeted by burglars, and a Red Cross Pharmacy has been hit twice.
Pharmacy owner Doug Clayton says he wants a neighborhood watch program and a more prominent law enforcement presence. He says it typically takes a deputy 30 minutes to respond to an alarm and criminals know they’ve got plenty of time to rob a store.
