No Foul Play Suspected In Wood Cutter’s Death
COEUR D’ALENE – An initial report from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department indicates Daniel Varner, who had been missing since Saturday, died while in the process of cutting firewood near Deception Creek.
According to the report, Varner was apparently moving large pieces of cut wood when he died.
The 54 year old was found near his truck along a seldom used road off Forest Road 202 and there was no evidence of foul play.
Varner was last seen at a Perkins restaurant Saturday, where he drank a cup of coffee before heading out on his weekly firewood cutting trip
Search crews covered over 800 miles of road before finding his body.
An autopsy has been scheduled in order to find out the actual cause of death.
