No. 16 Zags win 12th game in a row, beat Saint Mary’s on the road

MORAGA, Calif. — The Gonzaga women’s basketball team just keeps on winning!

The No. 16 team in the country traveled to California to face the Saint Mary’s Gaels Saturday afternoon looking to continue their hot streak of winning.

And that they did.

The Zags had five players score 10 or more points in the game. Yvonne Ejim led the charge for the Zags, scoring 24 points on 9 of 12 shooting from the field. Kaylynne Truong was the second-highest scorer for the Zags Saturday afternoon, scoring 14 points. Rounding out the double-digit scorers were Brynna Maxwell (12), McKayla Williams (11) and Eliza Hollingsworth (10).

Taycee Wedin led the Gaels with 23 points. Despite her strong outing, it was all Bulldogs. The Zags outscored the Gaels on points off turnovers 19-6. They also outscored them in second-chance points 16-6, shooting 50 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from behind the arc. The Zags held the Gaels to 38.6 percent shooting from the field and 23.8 percent shooting from behind the arc.

FINAL SCORE: Zags 82  Gaels 67

The 19-2 Zags remain undefeated in conference play. They will look to keep the winning streak alive on Thursday in Spokane against LMU.
