Need temporary work? The Census Bureau is recruiting in Spokane

The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting hundreds of temporary Census Takers in the Spokane and Yakima areas right now.

Census Takers will make $14.50 per hour. If hired, you’ll visit households where no one responded to the 2020 census questionnaire. Your primary job will be to count the people who live there.

The national population count occurs every ten years. It helps determine each state’s representation in Congress and influences how more than $675 billion are distributed each year.

According to the Census Bureau, non-response follow-up is integral to ensure a complete and accurate count.

To be eligible for a census job, you must:

Be at least 18 years old.
Have a valid Social Security number.
Be a U.S. citizen.
Have a valid email address.
Complete an application and answer assessment questions
Pass a Census-performed criminal background check and a review of criminal records, including fingerprinting.
Commit to completing training.
Be available to work flexible hours, which can include days, evenings, and/or weekends.
