N. Idaho parents: Man entered class, choked boy

Parents say a man in northcentral Idaho caused a chaotic altercation at a local school where fifth graders said he choked at least one student and tripped and verbally abused others.

KLEW-TV reports the incident at Highland School in Craigmont happened on Monday, but parents — not school officials — ultimately called police to report what happened.

The man, whose son attends the school, was taken into custody on separate, unrelated charges.

On Thursday, a dispatcher for the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office declined to release the man’s name to The Associated Press and Sheriff Brian Brokop didn’t immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

One mother, Tammy Miller, said her 11-year-old daughter described a chaotic classroom scene.

Highland School District officials say they’re investigating but offered few details.
