Mountain Gear’s closing sale ends Sunday

SPOKANE, Wash. – For nearly 40 years, Mountain Gear has been Spokane’s go-to place for hiking gear, snowshoes and anything needed for outdoor adventure.
Since announcing its closure, the outdoor retailer has been selling gear for discounted prices, but the end-of-business sale ends Sunday.
Owner Paul Fish grew the business from his living room into an enormous building on Division.
“Spokane just welcome us with opened arms,” Fish told 4 News Now in December.
Fish recognized when it was time to close down. He said changing shopper demands and pressure by online competitors is party to blame.
Since the closing announcement, Fish has marked down merchandise, offering high discounts as a parting gift the community for their support over the years.
Outdoor enthusiasts can say goodbye to the store and pick up a few final items during the store’s last few days.
