Mitchell Says He Believes Trainer Who Injected Clemens
CAPITOL HILL (AP) — The man who led the investigation of steroid use in baseball says he believes the claims about Roger Clemens. Clemens is the biggest name that the Mitchell Report links to steroids.
While Clemens maintains that the injections he got from former Yankees trainer Brian McNamee were lidocaine and vitamin B-12, George Mitchell said on Capitol Hill yesterday he believes McNamee’s assertions about steroids, saying McNamee otherwise would have faced federal charges of making false statements.
Mitchell says McNamee “had an overwhelming incentive” to tell the truth.
Both Clemens and McNamee are scheduled to appear before the same House panel next month.
