Medical Examiner: Spokane mother was stabbed to death

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Medical Examiner said a local mother was stabbed to death at her home in North Spokane in Sunday.

Kassie Dewey, 35, suffered multiple stab wounds to her torso, head and upper extremities and her death has been ruled a homicide.

Spokane Police have not yet identified the suspect, as he remains in the hospital and has not yet been booked into jail. Friends of Dewey said her relationship made them fear for her safety.

Dewey’s young daughter was also injured in the incident; she remains in the hospital.

Family and friends are set to gather for a vigil Wednesday night to honor Dewey. They will share memories of her and light candles in honor.
