Man’s body pulled from Spokane River near Barker Road Trailhead

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A man’s body was pulled from the Spokane River near the Barker Road Trailhead on Thursday.
Spokane Valley deputies responded to the area after a witness report. The witness said he was swimming and observed the man’s body submerged several feet under the water in the middle of the river.
Emergency Operations Team members recovered the body and Major Crimes detectives were called to assist with the investigation.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the man and determine if it was related to a reported suicidal missing persons case from earlier this week.
