Man to plead guilty to causing deadly Calif. wildfire
A man has agreed to plead guilty to causing a Northern California wildfire last year that killed one person and injured three firefighters, The Associated Press reported.
The Sacramento Bee said that John Colin Eagle Skoda, 32, pleaded guilty to three charges of causing the fire on the border of California and Oregon.
Several lesser charges were dismissed as part of a deal with prosecutors, the paper said.
Skoda called 911 after the fire started in July 2018 near the town of Hornbrook.
Thousands of people between Yreka, California, and Medford, Oregon, were evacuated.
The fire burned 60 square miles in California and Oregon, the AP said.
Skoda is scheduled to be sentenced next month, the wire service said.
