Man Severely Injured When Hit By Car On Division
SPOKANE – A man was severely injured early Saturday when he was hit by a car in north Spokane.
The incident happened just after 1 a.m. on the 6900 block of N. Division Street. Witnesses told Spokane police that a man in his forties was walking on the right northbound lane when he was hit by a vehicle. It is believed the driver could not see the man at the time of the crash.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver was not hurt.
Police say that alcohol and the pedestrian wearing dark clothing were factors in the crash. They want to remind people to wear highly visible clothing when out at night. They also believe that the pedestrian was walking on the street because of snow berms on the sidewalks, and ask drivers to watch for people forced to walk on roads because of the berms.
