Man in Spongebob mask robs CdA coffee stand

Coeur d’Alene police are searching for the man who robbed a drive-up coffee stand while wearing a SpongeBob SquarePants mask.

“Lean Bean Espresso” was robbed Wednesday night. Two female employees said the man entered the coffee stand wearing the mask, pointed a gun at them and demanded money.

Police set up a 15-block perimeter and called in a K-9 tracking team, but they were not able to trap the suspect.

Coeur d’Alene Police Sgt. Brett Walton said nearby surveillance cameras caught images of the suspect, who was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweat shirt as well as the SpongeBob SquarePants mask.
