Man Gets More Than 23 Years For Raping Blind Woman In Vancouver
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A man convicted of raping a blind woman has been sentenced in Vancouver to more than 23 years in prison.
The Clark County Superior Court judge sentenced 38-year-old Bert Lee Widmer to the high end of the standard sentence range Thursday because the victim was beaten in the attack at her home more than four years ago.
Widmer was serving time in Nevada for drug and car theft convictions when he was identified through DNA evidence. He was convicted in October in Vancouver of rape, robbery and burglary.
