Man flees from deputies and lies about identity

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley Deputies have arrested a man after he was observed running from a store, hiding from a deputy and lying about his identity when contacted.

24-year-old Kyle Roberson was found to be in possession of drugs and had an active felony warrant for his arrest.

On Monday at approximately 8:40 p.m., Deputy Jason Hunt observed a male in dark clothing running from Walmart near Broadway and Sullivan in Spokane Valley.

Deputy Hunt pursued Roberson as he continued to run.

He was eventually taken into custody without incident.

Roberson said he was running because a store employee was “pestering” him and the police had been called.

He said he didn’t have identification and verbally identified himself using another person’s name.

Deputy Hunt checked the information and confronted Roberson with the obvious lie.

Roberson admitted he lied because he had a warrant for his arrest.

After being advised he was under arrest for the warrant, Roberson said he had hypodermic needles in his pocket and he was a methamphetamine and heroin user.

Roberson said he didn’t know the drugs were inside the jacket because he just took the jacket from a friend’s house.

Upon further questioning, Roberson was unable to tell Deputy Hunt where the house was located or who lived there.

Roberson was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and his warrant.
