Man charged with breaking into mail boxes in Homedale

A man faces federal mail theft charges after numerous Homedale post office boxes were broken into in recent months.

U.S. Postal Inspector Darin Solmon filed a criminal complaint against Bobby Eugene Riley in U.S. District Court after an investigation into mail theft from the Homedale, Idaho, Post Office.

The Homedale postmaster reported that several boxes were broken into in June and mail removed. An investigation found that the boxes were manually manipulated from the front.

The postmaster reported similar incidents in July.

Postal inspectors installed camera equipment and recorded another incident on July 29. Police reviewed the footage and identified the thief as Riley.

A complaint was filed against Riley on Wednesday.
