COEUR D’ALENE – A Coeur d’Alene man was arrested and charged Wednesday in connection with an early morning home invasion and sexual assault at a residence in the northwest part of the city.

Graham Burrage, 27, has been charged with burglary, rape, attempted strangulation, infamous crime against nature and battery with the intent to committ a serious felony. He is accused of breaking into a home in west Coeur d’Alene and attacking a woman in the home.

Coeur d’Alene Police say that Burrage pried open a window, then entered the home. He then pulled the victim out of the bed where she was sleeping with one of her children and started beating on her. He then ordered all three of the victim’s children upstairs.

It is then that police say Burrage dragged the victim into another room, where he sexually assaulted and strangled her. The victim lost consciousness for a time, but when she woke up Burrage was gone. She then called 911.

The victim had recently gone on a few dates with Burrage, police said, but he wasn’t her boyfriend and didn’t have a key to the home

Burrage is expected to make his first court appearance within the next couple of days. He has been booked into the Kootenai County Jail.
