Longtime Spokane restaurant Azar’s officially closes on Saturday

SPOKANE, Wash. — After 42 years of service, Azar’s is officially closing its doors on Saturday.

Katy Azar, the owner of the Greek restaurant, says she chose to close the beloved restaurant and retire.

She says after 42 years, she’s ready to take on a less physical job, planning to pursue a real estate career.

The beloved restaurant closes at 9 p.m.

Wanting to go out with a bang, belly-dancing shows will take place throughout the evening while people enjoy one last meal.

Azar says she’s thankful for all of the support from her community throughout the years.

“I’m thankful [for] the support and the wonderful customers that have become more like family and friends to us,” Azar said. “We’re very blessed to have a business in Spokane where the people support small businesses. We’ve been just happy to be here and serve.”

Anyone picking up bulk food orders can pick them up on Sunday, October 23.

Azar said she wanted Saturday night to be a party.
