Local businesses bring coffee and pastries to firefighters battling downtown Coeur d’Alene fire

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — When a devasting fire broke out early Monday morning, the Coeur d’Alene community quickly jumped in to help.
Firefighters have been fighting a large fire near 4th and Sherman for several hours. At least five buildings, including Schmidty’s and Cole Taylor Salon, were completely destroyed.
Woops Bake Shop and the Downtown Coeur d’Alene Association stepped into help those fighting the fire. The two businesses brought warm coffee, donuts and pastries to firefighters. Woops also opened their restrooms to those working.
Fire crews have been fighting the fire since around 1 a.m. Several streets have closed in the area to allow them to get the fire under control.
